Just like the planes, the trains seem to run late as well. We boarded our EuroStar express train to Florence an hour plus late. Our host awaited us at our apartment on Via Carducci. On the fourth floor atop the building, we have a wonderful view of the area from the living room and from our terrace. The apartment is stylishly decorated with IKEA furnishings with all "mod cons" supplied for us.
We found a highly recommended dining establishment one block from the apartment (written about in 3 guide books we have). We enjoyed fresh tomato bruschetta with olives and basil, spiritosa pizza with sausages, fusilli with ricotta and tomatoes. From now on, we cook. The prices seem cheap next to those in Rome.
