Into the hills
Jen and I rode bus number 7 up into the hills surrounding Florence to Fiesole, a charming hilltop town most recently made popular by Frances Mayes' book Under the Tuscan Sun although others discovered it earlier--Marcel Proust, Gertrude Stein, Frank Lloyd Wright. Fiesole was an Etruscan settlement, until assumed by the Romans. We appreciated the cool breezes here, just a few miles from steaming Florence.
