Found objects, site specific, experimental--all descriptors for the final book arts projects. I chose gelato as my concept and created two books--one traditional and the other not so. "Troppo gelato," too much gelato, follows the accordion fold book form. Illustrations are hand done. I cut a stamp from an eraser for the gelato cone and used this for my pages and end papers. This is a counting book, one to ten, in Italian.
The second and experimental project's title is "No chocolate." I enjoy the fruit forms of this dessert more, hence no chocolate. I used a gelato cup from a local shop, cut rounds of paper I colored with watercolors, and attached the rounds with paper hinges. To support the gelato spoon, I cemented multiple rounds and staggered them to form a drip off the cup (which I curled a bit).
